Mentorship programme for leaders

Mentoring is about belief.

We all need someone whose advice we can trust when we get ‘stuck in a rut’ or ‘run out of steam’. Not least when there’s so much at stake.

The Roman poet Virgil said, ‘Experto credite’ – ‘Trust one who has gone through it’. The perspective from an experienced voice can help you grow into spiritual maturity and become a more self-aware leader.

By the end of the mentoring plan, I aim to have helped build a greater confidence in the things God has called you to for you to make better, more informed decisions.

Mentoring is the gift that will help lead you into believing more for yourself. It’s where you can invest in yourself to see real change. It could even be a life-saver.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another". (Prov 27:17)

What is a mentor?

Mentoring is biblical.

Skim through your Bible and you’ll see how Jethro mentored Moses, Elijah mentored Elisha, Naomi mentored Ruth, and Barnabas mentored Paul. A mentor is, first and foremost, before anything else., a living example of the teachings of Jesus.

A mentor is also someone too who will helpfully guide someone like you into their problems and through them. It gives a safe space for you to be yourself without fear of ridicule and judgment.

A mentor is a cheerleader. They will root for you and offer the best of themselves. They will ‘empty their cup’ into yours to see the best version of you rise and flourish in ministry.

THEY WILL:

  • Listen

  • Transfer knowledge

  • Empathise

  • Guide and support

  • Train

  • Inspire

  • Motivate

  • Be a sounding board

  • Help goal set

  • Encourage

  • Pray

  • Be for you.

All this comes together to help you ‘go’ better. (Mat 28:19)

The plan.

I offer an introductory session followed by 9 hourly sessions. These are usually 4-6 weeks apart from each other. The introductory session is a taster and designed to get to know each other, and to know if this is for you or not.

Each session is guided by myself. My hope is that these quickly become times to energise your ministry, bring change and be emotionally rewarding.

Sessions are online, unless agreed otherwise, and use Microsoft 365 Teams. Google Meet is a possibility .

Four ‘pre-meet’ questions will be sent to you by email before we get together. Responses will need to be sent back to me 24 hours before . The structure of each session will cover 3 specific areas:

  1. Personal development

  2. Leadership development

  3. Church development

Please note: everything shared Is held in confidence unless there is perceived to be a safeguarding issue. At which point the contents of discussion will need to be shared with the appropriate authority.

The cost? There is no cost. But…

I am able to offer the basic mentoring plan for free, thanks to the support of my other arrangements.

However, if you would like to make a donation that would be most welcome. Part of my vision is to support developing church leaders with free resources, which gifts like yours make possible. 100% of the donation will go towards raising up leaders.

Donation can be made by Bacs (bank details on request).

Thank you.

The ‘nitty gritty’

Unfortunately, the mentoring programme is only available to leaders in UK and Ireland at this time. Sorry!

I only partner with leaders across the main denominations, recognised church streams, and independent churches,- just as long as values and theology are orthodox and aligned with the main tenets of the Christian faith.

There may be a waiting list due to my availability, but I will always do my best for you. If I am unable to help, or not right for you, it might be possible to find another mentor, Our Father in Heaven knows what you need and when.

If you miss three appointments at our agreed times, I will assume this is not the right time for you at the moment and we will discontinue your mentoring plan.

I recognise there will be occasions when holidays and ‘life stuff’ will cut into planned regular meeting times, so please aim to give at least a week’s notice in advance. More if possible. Thank you.
